Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is 1,5pt spaced; uses a 12-point Arial Font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  1. SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

Articles proposals for publication in Revista de Direito Contemporâneo UNIDEP (RDC-U) mmust be sent by the website https://periodicos.unidep.edu.br/rdc-u, following the information and guidelines of the Call for Papers Notice in force at the time of submission. The journal reserves the right to accept or reject any original received, according to the recommendations of its editorial board, including due to the inadequacy of the thematic of the article to the editorial profile of the journal, as well as the right to propose any changes.

The submitted article must use the template provided in the following link.

 

  1. AUTHORS’ QUALIFICATION

For submission and eventual publication of scientific articles in the Revista de Direito Contemporâneo UNIDEP (RDC-U), the Author must be at least a current bachelor who dialogue with the editorial line, being recommended, but not mandatory, that at least one co-author or co-author has a PHD title or equivalent qualification. Articles signed by up to 4 (four) co-authors will be accepted.

The RDC-U, upon recommendations of its editorial board, may choose to receive, exclusively and in specific periods of submission, articles developed by authors who have such recommended minimum qualification.

In papers submitted in co-authorship, it is accepted Author who is attending graduation, provided that the a co-author meets the requirements of qualification stipulated above.

 

  1. INEDITISM AND EXCLUSIVITY

The texts for publication in the Revista de Direito Contemporâneo UNIDEP (RDC-U) must be unpublished and for exclusive publication, except in the case of articles in foreign language that have been published outside the country. Once published in this journal, they can also be published in books and collections, as long as the original publication is cited. Authors are asked to undertake not to publish in other journals and journals, as well as to ensure that the article proposals are not simultaneously postulated in other journals or editorial bodies.

 

  1. LANGUAGE

Articles written in Portuguese, English and Spanish may be submitted. Exceptionally, at the sole discretion of the Editorial Board, articles written in other languages may be accepted.

 

  1. DATA TO BE REPORTED IN THE SUBMISSION

At the time of submission of the article via website, the author must indicate the following information:

5.1. Authors:

  1. First Name/Middle Name/Surname: indication of the full name of the Authors, only with the initials of each name in upper case. In the case of articles in co-authorship, the names of all co-authors must be informed in the order they must appear at the time of publication. Once the submission is received, the editor will remove any mention of authorship from the document before the referees are appointed;
  2. E-mail: e-mail address of the Author for contact, which must be published in the published version of the article;
  3. URL: link to the complete curriculum of the authors. In the case of Brazilian authors, the link to the Lattes Curriculum should be indicated;
  4. Institution/Affiliation: indication of his main institutional affiliation or of the two main ones, if the link with both have the same importance (institution to which he is affiliated as a teacher or student, or, if he is not a teacher or student, the institution where he obtained his highest academic title, such as doctorate, master’s degree, specialization, etc.). The name of the institution must appear in full and in the original language of the institution (or in English when the writing is not Latin), followed by an indication of the country of origin of the institution in parentheses. If the author is a teacher and is studying a master’s or doctorate degree at another institution, the main affiliation will be that of the institution where the author is a Phd student.
  5. Country: indication of the country of the main institutional affiliation of the author;
  6. Biography summary: indication of the mini curriculum, starting with the indication of the institution where the author figures as teacher, followed by city, state and country acronym in parentheses, indication of academic degrees (starting with the highest)other links with scientific associations, profession etc.

5.2. Contributors and Funding Agencies:

The articles resulting from funded research projects must indicate in this field the source of funding.

 

  1. PRESENTATION OF THE TEXT AND PRE-TEXTUAL ELEMENTS

6.1. It is recommended that the work should have between 15 and 25 pages (A4 size - 21 cm 29.7 cm), comprising the introduction, development, conclusion (not necessarily with these titles) and a list of bibliographic references.

6.2. The margins used should be left and top 3 cm and right and bottom 2 cm.

6.3. Arial font, size 12, line spacing of 1.5 cm and spacing of 0 pt (points) before and after paragraphs should be used in the body of the text.

6.4. Arial, size 10, single line spacing shall be used in the footnotes.

6.5. When developing the text, paragraphs should contain a 1.25 cm indentation from the left margin. Titles and subtitles should be aligned to the left margin, without recoil.

6.6. The structure should be as follows:

  1. Title in the language of the article, in bold, centered, with all characters in upper case (upper case), font Arial, size 14. If subtitles are used, their characters must be lowercase and preceded by two points, font Arial, size 14.
  2. In case of need to indicate information about the article (funding by funding agencies, acknowledgments, translators of the text, etc.), a footnote should be inserted at the right of the title in the language of the article.
  3. Title in English, with all characters in upper case (upper case), font Arial, size 12. If subtitles are used, their characters must be lowercase and preceded by two points, font Arial, size 12. In the case of articles written in English, this item should be replaced by the title in Portuguese.
  4. The article should not include the names of the authors.
  5. Abstract in the language of the article (source Arial 12, spacing between simple lines, without paragraph or citations and references, with up to 250 words), preceded by the word "Abstract" written in the language of the article.
  6. Indication of 5 (five) keywords in the language of the article (in lower case letters and separated by a semicolon), preceded by the expression "Keywords" written in the language of the article.
  7. Abstract in Portuguese (Source Arial 12, spacing between simple lines, without paragraph or citations and references, with up to 250 words), preceded by the word "Abstract".
  8. Indication of 5 (five) keywords in Portuguese (in lower case letters and separated by a semicolon), preceded by the expression "Keywords".
  9. Development of scientific work: the progressive numbering, in Arabic numbers, should be used to highlight the systematization of the content of the work.
  10. List of bibliographic references actually used in the article at the end of the work, separated by a single space, aligned to the left margin (without indentation).
  11. The Brazilian technical standards (ABNT NBR 10520:2023 and 14724:2011) apply to the other aspects of formatting.

6.7. Any emphasis you want to give to the text should be done with italics, and the use of bold, underline or high box is prohibited for highlighting the text.

6.8. Figures and tables should be inserted in the text, not at the end of the document in the form of attachments.

 

  1. SCIENTIFIC METHODOLOGY

The references of the books, chapters of collective works, articles, theses, dissertations and monographs of conclusion of course of cited authors or used as the basis for the writing of the text should be referenced, using exclusively the Author-Date System, in compliance with Brazilian technical standards (ABNT Nbrs 10520:2023 and 6023:2018), and especially with the indication of the page from which the information presented in the text was taken soon after the reference.

 

  1. WRITING

8.1. The texts should be reviewed, in addition to having their language appropriate to a scientific editorial publication.

8.2. In the case of articles written in the Portuguese language, the writing must comply with the orthographic rules in force since the promulgation of the Orthographic Agreement of the Portuguese Language, as of January 1, 2009.

8.3. Citations from texts prior to the Agreement shall be in accordance with the original spelling.

 

  1. ARTICLES RESULTING FROM FUNDED RESEARCH

The articles resulting from funded research projects must indicate in a footnote, located at the end of the title of the article in the language of the text, the information related to the research funding.

 

  1. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE AUTHORS

10.1. Authors are responsible for the published content, thus committing themselves to participate actively in the discussion of the results of their scientific research, as well as in the process of reviewing and approving the final version of the work.

10.2. Authors are responsible for the conduct, results and validity of all scientific research.

10.3. Authors should report to the journal about any conflict of interest.

10.4. The opinions expressed by the Authors of the articles are their sole responsibility.

10.5. In submitting the article, the Authors attest that all statements contained in the manuscript are true or based on research with reasonable accuracy.

 

  1. CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Public reliability in the peer review process and the credibility of published articles depend in part on how conflicts of interest are managed during writing, peer review and decision-making by the editors.

11.1. It is mandatory that the author of the manuscript declares the existence or not of conflicts of interest. Even though there are no conflicts of interest, the author must declare this information in the article submission.

11.2. Conflicts of interest may arise when Authors, reviewers or editors have interests that, apparent or not, may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. The conflict of interest may be of a personal, commercial, political, academic or financial nature.

11.3. When Authors submit a manuscript, they are responsible for recognizing and revealing financial or other conflicts that may have influenced their work.

11.4. Authors should recognize in the manuscript all financial support for the work and other financial or personal connections with respect to the research. The contributions of people who are mentioned in the acknowledgments for their assistance in the research should be described, and their consent for publication should be documented.

11.5. Manuscripts will not be rejected simply because there is a conflict of interest, but a statement that there is a conflict of interest.

11.6. Reviewers should also disclose to the editors any conflicts of interest that might influence their opinions on the manuscript, and should declare themselves unqualified to review specific originals if they believe this procedure is appropriate. Just as in the case of the authors, if there is silence on the part of the reviewers about potential conflicts, it will mean that conflicts do not exist.

11.7. In the case of conflict of interest identified by the reviewers, the Editorial Board will send the manuscript to another ad hoc reviewer.

11.8. If the Authors are unsure what may constitute a potential conflict of interest, they should contact the Journal Editor.

11.9. In cases where editors or any other member frequently publish in the Journal, no special or differential treatment will be awarded. All submitted articles will be evaluated through the double blind peer review procedure.

 

  1. OTHER INFORMATION

12.1. The papers will be selected by the Editor and the Editorial Board of the Journal, which will contact the respective Authors to confirm the receipt of the texts, and then send them to two reviewers of the Board of Reviewers.

12.2. Originals received and not published will not be returned.

12.3. Authors are assured of the right to appeal editorial decisions within 5(five) days from the date of the final decision of the Editorial Board.

12.3.2. The appeal will be examined by the Editorial Board within thirty (30) days.
