NUTRITION LABELING

reflections on behavioral limitations to the information dissemination strategy

Authors

Abstract

Although mandated disclosure is a regulatory strategy widely used in consumer markets, it is not always an effective way to inform consumers about relevant issues and to change individuals' behavior. Through eminently theoretical and conceptual analytical research, this article addresses the criticisms of behavioral theories regarding the information disclosure and analyzes the possible effects of the new standards issued by Anvisa about nutritional labeling on consumer´s behavior.
