Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life is a public health priority, providing benefits such as complete infant nutrition and strengthening the mother-baby bond. Objective: To report an outreach activity conducted by medical students to promote breastfeeding and teach choking rescue techniques to pregnant women. Methods: This is a descriptive experience report carried out in João Pessoa-PB, where students performed role-plays of situations related to breastfeeding and choking rescue for newborns. Results: The role-play enabled active discussion and the internalization of healthy practices. Twelve pregnant women participated, addressing common breastfeeding challenges and practicing the choking rescue maneuver. Interaction with the audience promotes practical learning and reinforces the importance of family support and adequate information. Conclusion: Role-play proved effective in health promotion, increasing awareness about breastfeeding and preparedness for emergencies.
